Join us at the park for the 2019 Finger Lakes Adventure Challenge Race. The challenge consists of 5 kilometers of kayaking and 5 kilometers of running. Challenge yourself to compete in both sections or take part in just one.

The first challenge is kayaking on Peabody Lake’s water trail, which winds through the length of the park. This course will eventually lead competitors back to the start, where they will take off on foot to the 2.75-mile Kelley Branch Mountain Bike Trail. The trail traverses the wetlands of Kelley Branch Creek before heading along the ridges and pits of the reclaimed strip mine. The remaining portion of the run will be completed on the road.

Refreshments will be available after the race. All finishers will receive a participant medal, and the top overall male and female finishers will receive a $25 Missouri State Parks gift card.

To guarantee that you receive a T-shirt, please register online by Aug. 27. Online registration is $35. You can also register on the day of the event for $40. Fifteen kayaks are available for rent at $25 apiece, but participants should bring their own kayak if possible. To reserve a kayak, call the park office at 573-443-5315.

The race will begin at 9 a.m., with check-in and packet pickup at 8:30 a.m.
