Location:

Cuivre River State Park at the Camp Sherwood Group Campground. Directions and a map will be sent with the confirmation packet.

Age Requirements:

Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Activities:

  • Kayaking (Moderate/High*)
Learn the basics of flatwater kayaking (i.e., equipment, entry and exit, strokes, safety, water, and wind). By the end of the class, you will feel more comfortable on the water, better understand the safety risks around you and will have had fun. Participants will have time to practice and explore.
  • Archery/Atlatl (Low*)
This program will teach the basics of both archery and atlatl. Come and learn about the historical significance of atlatls, bows and arrows and shooting techniques. After the instruction portion, participants will put their new skills to use with hands-on practice, using archery equipment and atlatls. Participants will receive personal instruction and adequate time to practice what they learn.
  • Nature Photography (Low)
Do you love nature? Have you ever wanted to capture photographs of that perfect sunrise or beautiful flower, but you’re unsure how to line up a shot or are confounded by the buttons and knobs on your camera? Beginner and amateur photographers, please bring your camera (yes, even a camera phone), along with its manual, to learn how to turn a snapshot into a masterpiece. Once you've learned a few tips and tricks, the course will move outside so you can put your newly gained knowledge to the test. Cameras will be available for those who need one.
  • Dutch Oven Cooking (Low/Moderate*)
Participants will learn the basics of cooking with a Dutch oven and will get to try their hand at cooking some tasty treats.
