Meet Father Christmas 1860s Holiday Event

12/14/2019 | Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site | Pilot Knob, MO

In the 1860s, children looked forward to getting a present from Father Christmas. This December, Battle of Pilot Knob Historic Site will be visited by the famous guy who came to be known as Santa.

Park staff and volunteers will be in period attire, and there will be lots of holiday cheer and fun for everyone. Visitors ages 12 and younger will get to meet Father Christmas, have their picture taken and learn about traditions and games kids had back in the 1860s. They will also be able to enter a drawing for the chance to turn on the lights for our tree.

Refreshments will include peppermint sticks and hot apple cider called “Wassel." The evening will wrap up with our official historic site tree lighting at 5:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
