This hike is being held in honor of the American Hiking Society's "Hike Like A Girl 2019" initiative. The hike, guided by interpretive staff, will be on Opossum Track Trail beginning at the trailhead (located across Highway 104 from the Thunderbird Lodge parking lot). This 2.4-mile rugged trail travels through Hardwood Natural Area, near the Civilian Conservation Corps overlook gazebo, and shares a portion of the trail with Rockywood Trail. The trail is natural surface, has some wood or stone steps, some steep grades and travels near bluffs. It is recommended that participants wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate gear (bug spray, socks, etc.) for this outdoor experience.
