World Atlatl Day 2019

6/1/2019 | Graham Cave State Park | Danville, MO

Join park staff and members of the Missouri Atlatl Association in celebration of World Atlatl Day 2019 in the park’s lower picnic area. Several activities are planned throughout the day, including children's programs, Dutch oven cooking, and the demonstration and teaching of the use of the atlatl. The atlatl is a tool designed with a notch on one end to hold spears or darts for hunting. The public is encouraged to help us celebrate the use and technology of these early Native American weapons.

In addition, the Missouri Atlatl Association is hosting an International Standard Accuracy Contest (ISAC) between contestants, along with the Moche Toss and other games after 2 p.m. Pre-registration is not required and no experience is required to participate. Special accommodation may be provided on request.

For more information about the event, contact the park office at 573-564-3476.
