Birding for Beginners

7/6/2018 | Ha Ha Tonka State Park | Camdenton, MO

During this program, you will learn about the importance of birds and birding, the basic equipment required, and how to use a field guide to ID birds. We will then hike around the 0.9-mile Acorn Trail and see which of our feathered friends are hanging out. There will be a limited amount of equipment to lend out. You are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars; however, they are not required. Do bring sturdy hiking shoes and water.

Meet at the Turkey Pen parking lot. To get to the Turkey Pen parking lot from U.S. Highway 54, turn onto State Road D and continue approximately 1.9 miles. The Turkey Pen parking lot will be on your left.
