First Saturday Lecture

Join us for a free presentation by Native American artist Joe Don Brave. A reception and opening of an exhibit featuring Joe Don's art will follow.

Joe Don Brave is an enrolled member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma. He studied art at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has been a museum technician and a curator at the Osage Nation Museum, the oldest tribal museum in the United States, and has worked at the National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institute in New York City. In 2017, he represented the Osage Nation at the dedication of the new American section in the Muséum De Rouen - Musee d'Histoire Naturelle in Rouen, France.

Joe’s artwork revolves around his Osage heritage; the emotions, environment and the experiences he has learned while traveling around the country and world and from listening to his tribal elders. He resides in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, with his wife Rebecca and son Preston. Click here to read the news release.
