Follow the Drinking Gourd

8/19/2017 | Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site | Ash Grove, MO

Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic is kicking off a new season of "Third Saturdays at the Homestead" starting July 15. Explore and interact with Missouri's frontier past through a variety of hands-on activities. Programs will be hosted at a variety of locations throughout the site and are appropriate for all ages. All events are free and open to the public.

Navigating by the night sky was common along the Underground Railroad as enslaved people headed north to freedom. Join interpretive staff for a tour of the night sky and explore the constellations that have inspired thousands of stories and saved just as many lives.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water to drink. In the event of inclement weather, events may be canceled.

Event times: 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
