Museum After Hours: Missouri and the Great Migration

12/6/2017 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

The Great Migration was the internal movement of nearly 6 million Black Americans from the oppressive Jim Crow south to northern industrial centers. This mass relocation began before the Great War, but rose steadily throughout the conflict, changing Missouri’s demographics and racial landscape. Join museum curator, Sydney Johnson, as she explores the implications of this mass movement on Missouri in the wake of the first global conflict.
