Wings Over Weston is the largest birding festival in the state of Missouri. This year, the event will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The festival will be held at the Bee Creek Shelter, which is south of the main park entrance. The festival will have more than 30 activities about birds, bird migration and the importance of habitat conservation. There will be live birds, games, crafts, bird banding and guided hikes.
Bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic at the park while enjoying the migratory birds chirping in the background.
Transportation from Kansas City is provided if needed. The bus will leave Anita B Gorman Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri, at 9 a.m. and will return to Kansas City by 4 p.m. To reserve, please call Melissa Bueker at 816-759-7313, ext. 1162.
