Treasures of the Triangle

8/2/2014 | Knob Noster State Park | Knob Noster, MO

The night sky shows it all tonight - crescents, craters, mountains and rings. Plus, you will see all the treasures of the Summer Triangle, including sapphire and gold Albireo and the Ring Nebula.  Don't miss this one, which is the park’s last astronomy program of the summer.

This free program is part of a series of programs led by Grant Miller and his friendly, knowledgeable amateur astronomers, known as “the Local Group.” The programs are designed to help beginners learn about and appreciate the night sky. Each program begins with a brief introduction, short astronomy/space lesson, and a question and answer session as the sky darkens. Quality amateur telescopes will be set up to guide visitors through the night sky; a naked-eye laser sky tour will also be presented (dim red light flashlights preferred).

Bring something to sit on. Insect repellant is recommended. The events will be cancelled if skies are overcast or it's raining. To find out if an event is cancelled, please go to the Knob Noster State Park Facebook page.

Event times: 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
