“Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all?” Do you know what kind of owl says this? Have you ever heard the ghostly sound a screech owl makes? They don’t screech. Come to the park for an easy half-mile night hike to listen for and learn the calls of the nocturnal raptors of Big Oak Tree State Park. Meet at the rear parking area near the former lake at 5 p.m. or at 6:30 p.m. The hikes will traverse the lake levee. In the event of inclement weather, hikes will be canceled. Please call Big Oak Tree State Park at 573-649-3149 or Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site at 573-748-5340 for a reservation prior to Dec. 7.
