Museum After Hours: USS Missouri - A Fighting Legacy

3/7/2012 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

In March, the Missouri State Museum will continue to have “Museum after Hours” on the first Wednesday of each month and stay open until 8 p.m. At 7 p.m., a program called “USS Missouri – A Fighting Legacy” will be presented. Throughout the years, the people of Missouri have been known for their strength and courage. There have been five US Navy vessels, all bearing the same name, that share this tenacity. Join us to explore the history of these ships that have each borne the pride and honor of Missourians. This program will take place in the museum classroom, which is located in the History Hall (east wing).

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to visit the museum at night, or your schedule doesn’t allow daytime outings, come join us for special programs and to view the exhibits. You will find both old favorites and new including “Civil War Missouri: A House Dividing,” an exhibit that commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Evening entry to the museum will be through the carriage entrance on the south side of the building underneath the grand staircase.
