This event, to be held at Lakeshort Trail, offers half-marathon (13.1 miles), 5k (3.1 miles) and 1-mile options. You can pick up packets and preregister on Friday, Sept. 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the park’s shelter house. Lakeshore Trail is a scenic, rolling and winding asphalt-surfaced trail. The 5k will be one loop, out and back, and the half-marathon will be three loops. For more information, contact Becky Lowrance, race director, at 417-294-4775 or Becky@sweetmagnoliatours.com.
The entry fee is $25 for the 5k or 1-mile and $35 for the half-marathon and includes a T-shirt. Kids 12 and under are $15. Awards will be given to the overall male and female and the overall masters male and female for each race. There will also be age group awards. All proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Joplin. Donations can also be made to Missouri State Parks to help replace trees to rebuild Joplin area parks.
