Campfire and Camping Program
Event Time: 4 p.m. - 8 a.m.
There are a limited number of tents for use; call 314-340-5790 to reserve one for your family.
Tentative schedule:
4 p.m. - Registration
4:30 p.m. - Leave No Trace Program
4:30 p.m. - Indigo Dreams art program working with dyes from nature by St. Louis Art Museum artist Is’mima Neb’t Kata
6 p.m. - Wildlife of Missouri – presented by the Outreach and Education Department of the St. Louis Zoo
7 p.m. - Tent Pitching
7:45 p.m - Set up campfire
8 p.m. - Campfire entertainment and activities
Stargazing Program - by volunteers from a local astronomy club
Audio/Visual Program about Missouri State Parks
Learn and engage in a number of free and fun activities lead by performers or participating families - including storytelling, sing-along, acoustic jam session, spoken word, impromptu talent show, board games
Relax and enjoy bonds with friends, family and community members over food, beverages, s’mores. (Bring your own food, campfire wiener roast and s’mores to end the night)
11 p.m. - Campfire out
7 a.m. - Breakdown of tents, cleanup of camp
8 a.m. - Juice, Drawing, Thank you
Recommended items to bring:
- Tent, pitching supplies and equipment
- Food, coolers
- Beverages (no glass containers or alcoholic beverages
- Blankets, pillows and outdoor sleeping equipment
- Lawn chairs, blankets, tarps
- Acoustic instruments: guitar, harmonica, tambourine, hand drums
- Non-electronic games: board games (may want to avoid games with small pieces that are easily lost or blown away), cards, dominoes, pick up sticks, story books
- Art supplies: crayons, coloring books, color pens/pencils, charcoal
- Flashlights, head lamps, camp lights
- Extra batteries
- Battery- or hand-operated radios OK
