4/22/2025 | Scott Joplin House State Historic Site | St. Louis, MO
The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day by participating in a tree potting event at Scott Joplin House State Historic Site in St. Louis. Volunteers will be joined by staff members from the historic site and representatives from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri. After the baby trees are potted, they will be transported to Forest ReLeaf’s Creve Coeur nursery, where they will spend the summer before being planted at various locations throughout the St. Louis metro area.
The event will take place at the corner of Samuel Shepard Drive and North Beaumont Street, at the southwestern edge of the historic site's property. This area is being developed into a Forest ReLeaf City Tree Farm, which will serve as nursery in the heart of St. Louis City.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and the dirt and bring water and sunscreen. Event coordinators will provide gloves, snacks and training, and they will even give away some fun prizes. Guided tours of the Scott Joplin House will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information about tour fees and reservations can be found on the historic site’s tours page.
The tree potting is free, but online registration is required. For more information, contact Forest ReLeaf at 314-533-5323 or Scott Joplin House State Historic Site at 314-340-5790.
