11/2/2024 to 11/3/2024 | Montauk State Park | Salem, MO
Montauk State Park will host a managed deer hunt on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3. The park will be closed to non-hunters both days, and no outdoor recreation of any kind will be allowed during the hunt. Camping and lodging accommodations will be available for registered hunters. Participation in the hunt is limited to hunting parties selected through MDC's raffle process.
Hunters will be required to check in at the pre-hunt meeting, which will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in the park’s Searcy Room. They will also have to check in and out each day of the hunt. Hunt hours will be 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset both days. Sunrise and sunset times will change on Sunday, Nov. 3, due to daylight saving time. Prior to checkout, hunters must inform park staff whether they harvested any deer. Two does must be taken before an antlered animal may be tagged.
Hunting shall only take place on state park property. Once hunting zones are assigned, hunters may make arrangements with park staff to scout their respective zones prior to the hunt.
Limited restroom facilities will be available during the hunt; restrooms will be available at the showerhouse between loops 1 and 2, by the hatchery building in the day-use area, and at Montauk Mill. Loops 3 and 4 in the campground will be closed completely during the hunt. Limited dining and firewood will be available at the lodge. Lodging reservations can be made by contacting Montauk Lodge at 573-548-2201.
