Grandparents' Day/Family Fun for Deaf and Hard of Hearing

9/8/2024 | Scott Joplin House State Historic Site | St. Louis, MO

Join us to celebrate Grandparents' Day in the backyard of Scott Joplin House State Historic Site. This year's event is all about owls. So, come out to explore these birds in a variety of ways:

  • Meet them at a World Bird Sanctuary program.
  • Feel them with a touch table of mounts, copies and feathers.
  • Make them with art historian and bird enthusiast Dr. Sarah Jones from the Missouri State Museum.
  • Feed them by taking home a handmade feeder and learning about natural gardens and appropriate plants to attract birds.
  • See them by learning about urban birds found in St. Louis while going on a neighborhood hike. (Wear closed-toe shoes.)
  • Hear them by exploring apps that identify bird songs and show them in visual sound waves, and listen with experts.

This event is free, and an ASL interpreter will be on-site for all activities. For more information about the activities or schedule, please contact Victoria Cosner with Missouri Parks' Outreach and Engagement Office at Victoria.cosner@dnr.mo.gov or 314-340-5792.

Grandparents' Day is part of the Seniors to Parks program and is sponsored by Missouri State Parks and the Missouri Parks Association.

Event time: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
