Monarchs and Butterflies of Missouri

Petroglyph Tour – 2 p.m. at the petroglyph site

Washington State Park staff will offer a tour of the petroglyphs, the park's history carved in stone! Learn about the Mississippian-era carvings, the culture and community that created them, and possible interpretations. Enjoy a short stroll on a covered walkway with interpretive panels highlighting the cultural features. See some of the petroglphys that denote flight and change.

Metamorphosis and Kite Flying – 4 p.m. in the Big River Day-Use Area

Learn about the cycle of life of a butterfly as you build your own wind-riding butterfly kite.  

Monarchs and Native Gardens – 7 p.m. at the amphitheater

Learn how to design a garden that will not only attract butterflies of all sorts to your home but might even be a resting place for the Monarch as it comes through Missouri on its travels.

Event time: 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.
