Whether you're a seasoned birder or a complete birding novice, we want you! Join us at Roaring River State Park on Saturday, March 23, for Birding Boot Camp. Beginners and experienced birders alike are invited to learn more about bird-watching in this free educational program. Participants can join us for just one activity or the whole day.
We'll start the day at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center with a bird-watching hike at 8 a.m. The hike will be no more than 1.5 miles, and snacks and coffee will be provided! Then, we'll meet at the nature center at 1 p.m. to learn about the basics of bird identification and test our skills in a fun game of bird “Guess Who?” Finally, we’ll finish out the day at the nature center at 3 p.m. with a program about birdsong.
This event will be held rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear a sturdy pair of shoes or boots. You may also want to bring water, snacks, binoculars and a camera.
Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. For more information or to register, contact a park naturalist at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center at 417-847-3742.
