4/8/2024 | Missouri Mines State Historic Site | Park Hills, MO
Join us at Missouri Mines State Historic Site on Monday, April 8, to view a total solar eclipse.
The entire eclipse will last from 12:41-3:16 p.m., with a one-minute, 47-second period of totality beginning at 1:58 p.m. Prior to the eclipse, the site’s museum will be open for free self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to noon.
Event attendees are encouraged to bring their own water, snacks and seating, and should dress for the weather. Eclipse glasses will be available for purchase at the event, although visitors are also welcome to bring their own. Looking directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun without eclipse glasses or other special-purpose solar filters is never safe. Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not effective substitutes for special-purpose filters. To learn more about eclipse viewing safety, click here.
Parking will be available on the historic site grounds for the duration of the eclipse, with several parking locations available. During the event, visitors will be allowed to spread out across the site and view the eclipse from the location of their choice.
This event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. For more information, call the historic site at 573-431-6226.
Event time: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
