Third Annual "Spooking up the Park" Halloween Event

The crew at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park invites you to attend the park’s third annual “Spooking up the Park” Halloween event! Activities will include crafts, a costume contest, trick-or-treating, haunted hikes, and campfire stories. 

Please note that costume contest registration is from 2-3:30 p.m. and will be followed by contest judging 4 p.m.

Activities schedule:

• 2-4 p.m. – Crafts
• 2-3:30 p.m. – Costume contest registration
• 4 p.m. – Costume contest judging. Winners will be announced about an hour after judging is complete.
• 5 p.m. – Trick-or-treating begins
• 5 p.m. – Haunted hike for families with small children begins
• 6:30 p.m. – Haunted hikes for other attendees begins; will continue throughout the evening in 20-to-30-minute rotations
• 7 p.m. – Campfire stories begin
