Lemuel Sheppard offers illuminating insights as to the who, what, where and when of the Harlem Renaissance. Blues, jazz, spirituals, poetry, social commentary, original arrangements and music from the African American theater are the soundtrack to this journey through the middle of the 20th century. Lem will also include works from Kansas and Missouri artist who were active during the period in his presentation. The program is free and open to the public at the Arrow Rock State Historic Site visitor center.
