Wakonda State Park will host a Spooktacular Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 26. Registered campers may choose to participate in a campsite decorating contest, for which prizes will be awarded to the top three campsites. Judging will take place at 7 p.m., and winners will be announced shortly after at their campsites.
There will also be trick-or-treating in both campgrounds from 4-8 p.m. and a storytelling program in the Boulder Lake Campground from 5-7 p.m. These activities are open to both campers and day-use visitors. Trick-or-treaters will park at the Wakonda Beach parking lot and be transported to the Boulder Lake Campground by tram to avoid traffic congestion and for the safety of participants.
All activities are free, but regular camping fees apply. Camping reservations can be made online or by calling 877-422-6766.
