Arrow Rock State Historic Site is excited to welcome back local artist Shawn Cooper. The site will feature Cooper’s works in a daily exhibit in the small gallery of the visitor center in June and July. During the exhibit’s run, there will be two “meet the artist” events, one in each month, also in the small gallery.
Shawn Cooper is from Sedalia and enjoys painting with acrylics and oils. He has no formal training other than a few classes in high school. In addition to painting, he also enjoys studying genealogy, and while researching his family, he traced his ancestry to the Howard County settlement of Cooper’s Fort, located across the river from Arrow Rock.
The historic site hosted a display of Cooper’s paintings several years ago, and the event was well received.
For more information about these events, call the historic site office at 660-837-3330. The events are free and open to the public, and there is no registration.
Exhibit: June 1 - July 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., daily
Meet the artist events:
- June 3, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- July 15, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
