Bringing Populist Art to the Masses: Benton, WWII and Printmaking

11/17/2018 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

The Elizabeth Rozier Gallery is hosting "Thomas Hart Benton and the Navy," a traveling exhibit of Benton's naval art produced for Abbott Laboratories during World War II.  Thousands of Benton's war-time artworks were reproduced for the public to provoke emotions in support of the war effort. Come to the gallery to learn more about Benton's art and printmaking. Try your hand at printmaking yourself and take your artwork home with you.

This is a "drop-in" event, so visitors are welcome any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.  We suggest that you come by 2:30 p.m. to make sure you finish your artwork before the event closes at 3 p.m. The hands-on activity is appropriate for children, youth and adults.

Event times: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Elizabeth Rozier Gallery, Jefferson Street, Jefferson City
