Meteor Showers at Bennett

8/13/2018 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO

Join Dan Slais as he shares his knowledge and telescope for participants to see what is going to be considered the brightest meteor shower of the year!  Participants can expect to see a meteor every minute during this observation time. As the comet Swift-Tuttle orbited the sun, it left particles and debris when crossing the earth’s orbital path. These particles will enter the earth's atmosphere and burn up upon entry producing a fantastic light display.

A telescope will be set up near the Nature Center. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, flashlight to aid in finding the viewing area and snacks for enjoying this early morning event.

Event times: 3 a.m. - 5 a.m.
