Ninety Seconds of the Black Sun - The Great American 2017 Solar Eclipse

5/27/2017 | Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site | Lawson, MO

Join us for a free program at the visitor center to learn more about the upcoming total solar eclipse as guest speaker Joseph Wright works to debunk some of the myths and bad science surrounding this astronomical event. An indoor session will let us know what to expect during the solar eclipse, followed by an outdoor telescope session (weather permitting).

Wright is the current operations manager at the Warkoczewski Public Observatory at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and has been involved in working with professional and amateur astronomy organizations since 1996. His goal is to not only share astronomy, but to inspire more people to get interested and involved. He strives to relate astronomy and space exploration through understandable analogies, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
