Campground Host Opportunities
As a campground host, you serve as a “live-in” ambassador for a facility. Campground hosts set an example by being model campers, practicing good housekeeping and obeying all rules and regulations.
General Information about Hosting
- You will perform a variety of tasks. Specific information about these tasks is provided at the bottom of this page.
- You will live in your own recreational vehicle (RV), motor home or trailer on a special campground host campsite provided in exchange for your service.
- You should like people and be willing to be courteous, outgoing and helpful to people of all ages.
- You need to be physically capable of completing duties and willing to volunteer varied days and hours.
- Campground hosts are asked to serve up to 32 hours per week for a minimum of one month. This time commitment can be split between spouses/partners.
- Some parks reimburse mileage up to $200.
How to Become a Host
- Campground host applications are available on Missouri State Parks' Better Impact website. Once you are on the Better Impact site, you have a variety of ways to navigate to a campground host application. These include clicking on the name of the desired park or historic site, as well as entering "Campground host" in the search bar.
- Each potential host must submit a separate application. Applications can be completed at any time.
- Parks will select hosts from the list of applicants. Park staff will contact each applicant directly.
Campground Host Parks, Openings and Duties
The below table lists all Missouri state parks and historic sites that offer campground host opportunities. It also shows how many host openings there are for each month in 2025. A host couple counts as one. This table will be updated as positions are filled.
Each park and historic site name in the table links to a host duties document, which provides a list of host duties, the phone number for the park or site, and the number of host positions. These documents also state whether the facility offers mileage reimbursement.
