Have you ever wanted to trout fish but don't know where to begin? Do you want to gain confidence fishing Missouri's trout parks? If so, you’re in luck! Join Missouri State Parks and the Missouri Department of Conservation as we teach the basics of trout fishing using both spin and fly-fishing tackle at Roaring River State Park

The 2026 program will take place on March 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first half of the program will cover trout fishing rules and regulations, gear selection, and tackle rigging. The afternoon portion will feature on-stream fishing with seasoned mentors in Zone 1. The program will begin in the CCC Lodge.

Learn2 Trout Fish is free and open to everyone ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited to 20 participants, and registration is required. Registration for the 2026 class opens on Feb. 27 and can be completed online.

Daily tag and fishing permit requirements will be waived for participants during the class, and all equipment will be provided. Anyone wanting to fish on their own after 3 p.m. must have a daily trout tag and a valid Missouri fishing permit. Tags and permits are available for purchase at the park store.

A signed waiver must be presented upon arrival at the program. Participants should also bring snacks, water, lunch and sunscreen.
