Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park Closed for Managed Deer Hunt Nov. 6-8, 2026
Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park will be closed from 6 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2026, until 7 a.m. on Nov. 9, 2026, due to a managed deer hunt at the park. Only registered hunters and people working the event will be allowed in the park. Camping will be unavailable from Nov. 5, 2026, through Nov. 8, 2026. This includes special-use camping and organized group camping.

River Hills Visitor Center
Get a glimpse of a healthy Ozark border forest landscape and its wildlife inside the River Hills Visitor Center. A large diorama portrays native mammals, birds, reptiles and plants in spring and summer seasons. Take a closer look at some of the smaller features such as algae and leaf structure through the available microscopes. From the viewing area, you may use binoculars to observe and perhaps identify birds and other wildlife. To learn about the varied natural and cultural history of the park, ask to watch one of our variety of videos that are available during visitor center hours.
