First Day Hike

1/1/2025 | Hawn State Park | Ste. Genevieve, MO

Meet park staff at the Spanish Land Grant Trail trailhead for Hawn’s First Day Hike. This moderately difficult guided hike will cover all 3.8 miles of Spanish Land Grant Trail and should take about two and a half hours to complete.

Spanish Land Grant Trail consists of natural surfaces and goes through some of the park's most beautiful open pine and oak woodlands. The trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs, as it has some loose rocks and rough, uneven terrain. However, children are encouraged to participate, and dogs are welcome if they are leashed. All participants should dress for the weather and bring water and snacks.

This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Missouri State Parks and the Friends of Hawn Association. Registration is required and can be completed by clicking here.

More information about the hike can be obtained by calling the park office at 573-883-3603. If the hike is canceled, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and will be posted on our Park and Site Status Map.
