1/1/2025 | Trail of Tears State Park | Jackson, MO
Join us on Jan. 1 for a First Day Hike on the East Loop of Peewah Trail. We will meet at the Lake Boutin beach parking lot at 12:30 p.m. and then drive to the trailhead. The hike will cover 3.2 miles on natural surfaces, including rocks and roots. Along the way, participants will have good views of the Mississippi River below. Average hiking time ranges from two and a half to three hours.
Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and snacks. Due to the rugged nature of the trail and the presence of drop-offs, this hike is best suited for ages 12 and up. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
This event is free and open to the public; however, space is limited, and registration is required. Click here to register.
For more information, call the visitor center at 573-290-5268. If the hike is canceled, registrants will be contacted by email.
Hike time: 12:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
