First Day Hike

at Bennett Spring State Park

1/1/2026 | Bennett Spring State Park | Lebanon, MO.

Looking to get outside after the holiday season? Join Bennett Spring State Park staff for a First Day Hike on Savanna Ridge Trail. We'll meet at the trailhead at 1 p.m. before embarking on this moderate 2.5-mile hike. During the hike, we'll see a chert woodland habitat that is unique to our area, and we'll discuss the importance of prescribed fire as we pass through the park's burn unit.

Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Bringing water bottles, snacks and hiking sticks is also encouraged. This program is free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Registration is required and can be completed using the link provided here. If the hike is canceled, an announcement will be emailed to registrants and posted on the park's Facebook page and the Park and Site Status Map.

First Day Hikes are promoted by America's State Parks and are held at parks across the country at the start of each year. For more information about this hike, please call the park naturalist at 417-532-3925.
