at Big Sugar Creek State Park

1/1/2026 | Big Sugar Creek State Park | Pineville, MO.

Start the new year off right with a guided hike on Ozark Chinquapin Trail at Big Sugar Creek State Park. This rugged 3.4-mile hike will begin at the parking lot near the trailhead at 10 a.m.

Sights along the trail will include open woodlands, rocky drainages, limestone bluffs and shale outcrops. Hikers should expect steep terrain and possible water crossings and muddy areas. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring water and snacks. A pit toilet is available near the trailhead.

This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, but the trail is not accessible for strollers or wheelchairs. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Registration is required and can be completed using the link provided here.
