Stream Monitoring Blitz

at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park

3/21/2026 | Rock Bridge Memorial State Park | Columbia, Mo.

Rock Bridge will host its spring 2026 Stream Monitoring Blitz on Saturday, March 21. Everyone age 6 or older is invited to participate in this ongoing citizen science project for the Bonne Femme watershed. Participants will catch aquatic animals, conduct chemical tests to evaluate water quality, and check on the health of park streams.

Participants should meet at the Devil's Icebox parking lot to be paired with experienced Stream Team volunteers and fellow public volunteers. Five teams will disperse to monitor five locations within the park. No prior training is necessary, but everyone should expect to wade in a stream during the event. Waterproof boots are recommended. Free sack lunches will be provided after the event.

Registration is required and can be completed online or by calling 573-886-4330. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Saturday, May 2.

Rock Bridge State Park's Stream Monitoring Blitz is held every spring and fall. It is co-sponsored by Boone County Stormwater Management and Missouri Stream Team.
