Pomme de Terror is Pomme de Terre State Park's annual Halloween event. Join us in the the Hermitage Area Campground for campsite decorating, pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and more. This event is free and open to the public.
Event Schedule:
Friday, Oct. 16
Creepy Cool Program, 7:30 p.m.
Attend a program put on by a park naturalist at the amphitheater.
Saturday, Oct. 17
Wonders of Wildlife Show, 11 a.m.
Enjoy a live animal show put on by Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife at the amphitheater.
Lunch with the Ranger, noon
Stop by the campground store to buy some lunch and meet the park ranger. Get a picture with the ranger in his vehicle.
Mad Scientist Contest, 1-3 p.m.
Channel your inner mad scientist and create the best monster you can for a chance to win a prize. Pick up craft supplies and an entry form at the campground store starting at 1 p.m. Submit your creation at the same location by 3 p.m.
The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes will occur at the amphitheater during the costume contest.
Pumpkin Carving Contest, 2-3 p.m.
Bring your carved pumpkin to the amphitheater for judging between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Impress our judges and compete for the title of scariest, funniest or most creative jack-o’-lantern.
You must provide your own pumpkin for carving, and you may submit only one jack-o'-lantern for judging. The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes will occur at the amphitheater during the costume contest.
Costume Contest, 3:30 p.m.
Meet at the amphitheater and then walk in our Halloween parade while our judges decide the scariest, funniest and most creative costumes for the following groups: 0-9 years, 10-17, 18 and up, group, and pet.
You may win in only one category. The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes will occur immediately after judging.
Trick-or-Treating, 5-7 p.m.
Grab a a bucket or bag, and trick-or-treat your way through the campground.
Campers are encouraged to provide candy.
Camp-o-Ween Decorating Contest
Decorate your campsite for a chance to win a prize. Be sure to finish decorating by Saturday evening. The top three sites will receive a prize after trick-or-treating.
Decorations must remain on your site and not carry over into other areas. Decorations must be completely removed from your site prior to checkout.
Camping guests on the Pittsburg side of the park are welcome to decorate their campsites but are not eligible to win prizes for the decorating contest.

Pomme de Terre State Park is located on Pomme de Terre Lake in Hickory County. This event will take place in the campground on the Hermitage side of the lake. The GPS coordinates for the Hermitage Area Campground are 37.883074, -93.303521.
