History's Mirror: George Caleb Bingham
8/1/2026 | Watkins Mill State Park and Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site | Lawson, Mo.
Rachael Blackburn Cozad will be on-site on Saturday, Aug. 1, to present this program about self-taught Missouri artist George Caleb Bingham. The presentation will take place in the visitor center from 2-3 p.m.
Racheal Cozad is the proprietor of Rachael Cozad Fine Art, and she previously served as the director of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. During this presentation, she will explain why Bingham is considered one of the most important painters of the 19th Century. She will also provide tools that you can use to find out if any paintings you have at home were created by Bingham (new paintings of his are being discovered every year).
Admission to the event is free and open to the public. There is no need to register.
