Clifton Truman Daniel, the oldest grandson of former President Harry S Truman and first lady Bess Truman, will be in Lamar, Missouri, on Thursday, April 30, to give a presentation about his memories of Harry and Bess. The presentation will take place at Thiebaud Auditorium, located at 105 E. 11th St.

Event Schedule:

Meet and Greet with Mr. Daniel, 6 p.m.

The event will begin with a meet and greet with Mr. Daniel in the meeting room of the auditorium. Online registration is required for this portion of the event. There is a registration fee of $10. The fee covers admission, one drink and light hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar will be available throughout the meet and greet.

Presentation, 7 P.m.

Mr. Daniel's presentation will go from 7 p.m. till about 8 p.m. This part of the event is free and does not require registration.

Event Location:

Both the meet and greet and the presentation will take place at Thiebaud Auditorium, located at 105 E. 11th St. in Lamar. The auditorium is four blocks west of Harry S Truman Birthplace State Historic Site. Free guided tours of the birthplace will be available during regular hours.

About the Presenter:

Clifton Truman Daniel is the son of author Margaret Truman and former New York Times Managing Editor E. Clifton Daniel Jr. He is the honorary chairman of the Truman Library Institute, the secretary of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, and a vice president of the Society of Presidential Descendants.

He is the author of "Growing Up With My Grandfather: Memories of Harry S. Truman" and "Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman’s Letters to Harry Truman,1919-1943." He is currently portraying his grandfather in the one-man stage show, "Give ‘Em Hell Harry," as well as writing and lecturing on the Truman presidency.
