Plants and Animals - Route 66
Excellent opportunities to bicycle, walk, bird-watch or study nature await park visitors. The park area abounds with oak, hickory, river birch, cottonwood and pine trees and is home to a diverse set of plants, as well as fox, raccoons, snakes and wild turkeys.
More than 175 species of birds have been identified in the park. The small mammal population of squirrel, raccoon and rabbit has a ready supply of food and shelter from the oaks and hickories that dominate the forest trees.
