4/15/2023 | Battle of Lexington State Historic Site | Lexington, MO
Join the national movement led by the American Battlefield Trust to preserve Civil War battlefields and historic sites on April 15 at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site. Volunteers will meet at the visitor center and work in small groups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to construct split-rail fencing and battle invasive species threatening the site. Volunteers should dress comfortably to work and hike outside in the elements.
If you would like to learn more about invasive species prior to Park Day, join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, for our Invasive Species Workshop. The workshop will start in the visitor center, with a focus on common invasive species found around the site and the community and effective removal methods, and then continue outside to allow participants time to practice identifying invasive species and distinguishing then from beneficial native plant look-alikes. As with the Park Day event, workshop participants should dress appropriately for the weather and for hiking around on the grounds.
Event Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
