Celebrate the Total Solar Eclipse of 2017 at St. Francois State Park. The events below will take place at Shelter #2. Parking will be in the day-use spots.
11 a.m. - Solar Eclipse and Sun Safety
Learn about the astonishing event of a total eclipse of the sun and how to watch it safely. This program will last approximately 30 minutes.
11:30 a.m. - Viewing of Solar Eclipse
The partial eclipse will start at 11:49 a.m., with the total eclipse occurring at approximately 1:17 p.m. The total eclipse will last about two and a half minutes. The park will have a limited number of eclipse glasses for purchase the day of the event. Be prepared for total darkness at this event. All artificial lighting will be banned during the time of the total eclipse. The partial eclipse will continue until approximately 2:40 p.m.
