Trails

Washington State Park currently offers three hiking trails.

1,000 Steps Trail
This trail was originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. It is approximately 1.5 miles long and begins at the northeast end of the Thunderbird Lodge parking lot.

Opossum Track Trail
This trail is a three-mile loop trail that provides outstanding views of the Big River valley. It begins just southwest of the Thunderbird Lodge parking lot.

Rockywood Trail
This trail is designed for both hiking and backpacking use. It traverses approximately 10 miles of rugged Ozark terrain. The trail begins from the northwest side of the Thunderbird Lodge parking lot.
