Plants and Animals

at Route 66 State Park

Excellent opportunities to bicycle, walk, bird watch or study nature await at the park. The park area abounds with oak, hickory, river birch, cottonwood and pine trees and is home to a diverse set of plants, many deer, fox, raccoons, snakes and wild turkeys.

A variety of more than 40 different bird types have been identified in the park. The small mammal population of squirrel, raccoon and rabbit has a ready supply of food and shelter from the oaks and hickories that dominate the forest trees.
