Spring Bird Walk

3/19/2023 | Wakonda State Park | La Grange, MO

Reigning Young Birder of the Year Zita Robertson and her family are excited to start their second series of seven bird walks at Wakonda State Park!

We had an easy time during the winter walks, with all those nice, big birds like swans, geese and ducks in plain view on the water. This time, we will have to search the trees and bushes along the trail for warblers and other migratory birds traveling through the area. We are also expecting to see more active birds closer to sunrise.

At each event, we will meet at the Agate Lake parking lot and then likely walk around for about an hour and a half, covering maybe a mile on the trails. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars (if they have any), field guides (if they’d like), and any questions they have about birds or birding!

Event Dates:
  • March 12, 19, 26
  • April 2, 9, 16, 23
Event Times: 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
