First Day Hike: Historic Camp Sherwood Tour

1/1/2023 | Cuivre River State Park | Troy, MO

Start the new year off on the right foot with an easy guided walk in Cuivre River's historic Camp Sherwood. Camp Sherwood was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937 and is listed as a National Historic District. The tour will begin at the camp's recreation hall and will be less than a mile in length.

Camp Sherwood is located off Lincoln Hills Road approximately 2.5 miles from the park visitor center. The camp area is fairly flat and consists of gravel roads and paths that are accessible for visitors with mobility impairments. Restrooms will not be available at the camp; however, vault toilets are open at the equestrian area and the Hilltop Shelter and in the campground across from the playground. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.

This event is free and open to all ages. For more information, call the park office at 636-528-7247. Event updates will be posted on the park's Facebook page.
