"From Path to Path" – As we wander through life, our path changes beneath our feet. This First Day Hike will follow several paths, as we’ll start out on Deer Hollow Trail near Fisher cave, hike up to Bluff View Trail by the historic CCC dining lodge, head down to River Trail, and then go through the campground. We'll explore woodlands, forest, river bottoms and bluffs. We may stop to visit an old, weathered past resident, one that has experienced many moments through time: a bur oak tree that lived to be over 300 years!
We'll meet at 11 a.m. in front of the visitor center to use the restrooms then drive to down to the Fisher Cave parking lot. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, and bring snacks, water and binoculars for this moderately challenging 3-mile hike. All participants should take about two and a half hours to complete the hike. Please call the park office at 573-468-6072 if necessary due to bad weather affecting road conditions.
This event is free and open to all ages. The trails are not accessible for wheelchair users.
Registration for this event is required, and a sign-up link will be available here: https://icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/Activities/Search.aspx.
Hike time: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
