Castlewood Days

6/11/2011 | Castlewood State Park | Ballwin, MO

Explore the natural beauty and unique past of Castlewood State Park! Thrill to raptors swooping into the crowd from the World Bird Sanctuary, enjoy presentations from the Endangered Wolf Center and learn how the Wildlife Rescue Center nourishes injured animals back to health. Pit your canoeing skills against other teams racing in the Meramec River Challenge. Find out about the "critters," large and small, that inhabit the natural waters from area environmental groups and learn how you can help. Discover the rich cultural history surrounding the park including prehistoric times, Civil War mementos, the music and recreation during the resort era around the beach, gangster lore and prohibition. Travel down Memory Lane with a display of authentic cars from the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s. There will also be crafts, face painting and storytelling for the "young" of all ages. Have a snack, tap your feet to some live music and let Castlewood Day take you away!
