Join Washington State Park Staff on Saturday, June 8, for a program all about birds!

Activities Schedule:

Morning birding hike – 9 a.m. at Thunderbird Lodge

Meet at Thunderbird Lodge for a guided birding hike on 1,000 Steps Trail. As we hike, we will see how many types of birds we can spot, and staff will share information about some of the park's most common species. You are welcome to bring binoculars if you have them, but a few pairs will be available to borrow.

Birds of the Park – noon at the amphitheater

Participate in an interactive lecture as we discuss some of the birds you might see in different areas of the park! Receive a "Birds of Washington State Park" list when you come to the program.

Petroglyph tour – 2 p.m. at the petroglyph site

Join park staff on a tour of the petroglyphs, Washington's American Indians rock carvings. Check out some of the featured bird carvings, including the famous Thunderbird!

Birding journal craft – 4 p.m. at the pool

Create and decorate your own birding journal to document the birds you see! Whether you use your journal for writing, sketching or both, you will have a book to preserve your birding adventures.

Build a bluebird house to bring home with your family! Staff will provide one birdhouse kit per household and will provide power tools and assistance as needed.
