11/3/2018 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO
National Bison Day is the first Saturday in November. This day is set aside to honor the bison as our National Mammal. This one ton beast once roamed the plains and prairies of North America 60 million strong before we nearly wiped them out. Due to the tremendous response we had last year of 111 people for one hike, there will be two guided hikes this year. See the prairie in its autumnal glory. Don't forget your cameras! Be prepared for a two-mile hike over uneven terrain.
Bringing water, snacks, a hat and sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful in looking at bison as well as other wildlife that we may see. Dress for the weather; the winds can be rather nasty. Please call 417-843-6711 to register.
